Amelia and Armando met while studying abroad in Florence, Italy in January of 2019. Over eight years later, they are incredibly grateful to return to Tuscany to celebrate their marriage in the place their story began.
They were introduced as part of a group of friends in the Stanford in Florence program, which was housed in the orange building pictured here. They became close friends while spending their weekends traveling together during their semester abroad.
A few weeks after their first group trip to Cinque Terre, Amelia asked Armando out during a walk through the Boboli Gardens. Their first official date was at the Giunti Odeon, a historic movie theater in central Florence which is featured both here and on their Save the Date card.
After those first dates, they returned to Stanford University to complete both their undergraduate and master’s degrees together. Following a cross-country move in 2021, they continued to grow together as a couple despite spending much of their relationship living in different cities. While Amelia pursued her PhD in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins, Armando explored life in several Northeastern cities while working as a product manager before settling in Philadelphia to begin his MBA program at The Wharton School.

In January 2025, while living in New York City, Armando proposed to Amelia at The Met Cloisters in Upper Manhattan. Built from medieval European monasteries and courtyards relocated stone by stone to New York, The Cloisters reminded him of the architecture and historic atmosphere of Florence, while the stone archways also echoed the iconic quad at Stanford University.
Early in their engagement, they knew they wanted to return to the Florence region to celebrate their marriage. Gathering the people they love most in the place where their story began, and where so many of their favorite memories were first made, feels especially meaningful.
They cannot wait to celebrate the next chapter of their journey with all of you!
